Nintendo Download: Lies of P Comes to Switch 2 as Lost Virtual Boy Games Finally Release

Nintendo’s latest weekly download brings Lies of P: Complete Edition to Switch 2, resurrects two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games, and adds a packed lineup of new releases, DLC and Nintendo Switch Online content.

Nintendo has revealed this week’s additions to the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online, and there’s quite a bit happening across both Switch generations.

Leading the August 7 lineup is Lies of P: Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the acclaimed Soulslike adventure and its Overture expansion together in one package.

Nintendo is also digging surprisingly deep into its archives this week, releasing two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games through Nintendo Classics: ZERO RACERS and D-HOPPER.

Lies of P: Complete Edition Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2 owners can now experience the complete Lies of P story with Lies of P: Complete Edition.

The dark Soulslike puts players in control of Geppetto’s puppet in a monster-filled world where decisions and lies can influence the protagonist’s humanity and ultimately help determine how the story ends.

The Complete Edition includes the original Lies of P alongside Lies of P: Overture, the prequel expansion that expands the game’s story and takes players into events preceding the main adventure.

Both are included as a single package optimized for Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo Releases Two Previously Unreleased Virtual Boy Games

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers are getting something considerably more unusual this week.

ZERO RACERS and D-HOPPER, two Virtual Boy games that were never originally released, are now available through the Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics collection.

ZERO RACERS is a futuristic racing game that takes place near the end of the 30th century. Players pilot machines through courses constructed from interconnected square ducts, maintaining the required position each lap and ultimately finishing in the top three to progress.

Players can also fly through Rapid Marks scattered throughout courses to build RAPID and activate temporary speed boosts.

D-HOPPER, meanwhile, is an adventure starring Prince Dorin. After Prime Minister Lexer stages a rebellion in Celestia, Dorin finds himself trapped underground before being rescued by fairies.

Players must help the prince make his way home while searching for four missing spirits from Faeron. Finding the spirits eventually allows Dorin to transform into a dragon and use special techniques.

Both games are available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.

Pokémon Pokopia Expands With Bubbly Basin

Pokémon Pokopia is heading underwater with the first part of its Expansion Pass.

The paid Bubbly Basin DLC introduces a new underwater town where players can use Dive to explore beneath the surface.

The expansion introduces additional Pokémon, outfits, smoothies and new gameplay possibilities. Water-specialty Pokémon can help players grow watermelons, while Pokémon with the Generate specialty can power bubble machines and streetlights.

Players can also construct buildings at different heights using buoyant blocks and venture through a hole in the seafloor to explore the deep sea.

Surf receives a new power-up as part of the expansion as well.

NBA 2K26 Gets a Free Nintendo Switch Online Trial

Nintendo Switch Online members can play the full version of NBA 2K26 at no additional cost for a limited time.

The Game Trial runs from August 7 at 10 a.m. PT through August 13 at 11:59 p.m. PT and covers the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch versions.

Progress made during the trial can be carried into the full game for players who decide to purchase it afterward.

Nintendo is also offering 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points for completing a mission associated with participating in the trial.

Nintendo Music Adds Virtual Boy, Fire Emblem and Mario Kart Tracks

Nintendo Music is receiving several additions this week.

Music from five Virtual Boy games has joined the service, including tracks from Mario Clash, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, Virtual Boy Wario Land and Mario’s Tennis.

Nintendo is also giving fans an early taste of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave ahead of its September 17 launch on Nintendo Switch 2, with selected tracks from the upcoming game now available through Nintendo Music.

More Mario Kart World Free Roam music has also arrived, with playlists featuring music from Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.

Tetris 99 Kicks Off Its 56th MAXIMUS CUP

Tetris 99 is getting another crossover event with the 56th MAXIMUS CUP.

Running from August 7 through August 10, the event gives Nintendo Switch Online members the opportunity to earn a theme inspired by Splatoon Raiders.

Players who accumulate 100 event points while competing in the Tetris 99 online mode will unlock the theme, complete with themed artwork, music and Tetrimino designs.

Nintendo is also making themes from previous events available for two tickets each through August 16. New Tetris 99 players will receive 10 tickets to help get them started.

More Games Are Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Beyond Lies of P, this week’s Switch 2 eShop lineup includes several notable releases.

Bubsy 4D + Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection, LEGO Party! – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Montabi, OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek, Arcade Archives 2 TX-1, Console Archives Doraemon and Spooky Spirit Shooting Gallery for Nintendo Switch 2 are all part of the week’s lineup.

Football fans can also expect EA SPORTS Madden NFL 27 Deluxe Edition on August 10.

One of the biggest releases comes shortly afterward, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11.

Nintendo Switch Gets Another Busy Week of Indie Releases

The original Nintendo Switch isn’t being left behind.

This week’s extensive eShop lineup includes Aery – Surreal World, Angel Engine, Aooni2, FixFox, Gods With Guns, Hololive Fantasy Battle, Limbot, Love Spell: Written In The Stars (Starlight Edition), Mai: Child of Ages – Storms of Time, Talespinner and several retro releases.

Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party also joins the Switch catalog on August 7, bringing its collection of party mini-games to Nintendo’s console.

Additional releases are scheduled throughout the week, including Pets Survivors and Pro Jank Footy on August 12 and CloverPit on August 13.

A Particularly Interesting Week for Nintendo’s Back Catalog

While Lies of P: Complete Edition gives Switch 2 owners a substantial modern release to dig into, ZERO RACERS and D-HOPPER may be the most historically interesting additions this week.

Bringing previously unreleased games out of Nintendo’s archives gives players a chance to experience titles that otherwise could have remained inaccessible outside of prototypes and preservation efforts.

Combine those releases with new Pokémon content, a free NBA 2K26 trial, additional Nintendo Music tracks and another packed eShop lineup, and Nintendo has put together a busy week for players across Switch and Switch 2.
