Nintendo Switch 2 Adds Madden NFL 27, Oblivion & Mario Sunshine

Nintendo Switch 2 owners have plenty to play this week, with a new Madden hitting the field, a legendary RPG making its way to Nintendo’s latest hardware and one of Mario’s most memorable adventures joining the Nintendo Classics library.

Nintendo’s latest weekly Download update is headlined by EA Sports Madden NFL 27, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and the return of Super Mario Sunshine. A collection of smaller releases is also arriving across Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch.

Madden NFL 27 Hits Nintendo Switch 2

Football season is getting underway on Nintendo Switch 2 with EA Sports Madden NFL 27, which is available now.

This year’s installment puts a major emphasis on making Franchise mode feel more reactive. Individual athletes have personalities that influence their motivations, demands and reactions, potentially adding another layer to the decisions players make while managing their teams.

On the field, EA has added more precise wide receiver and defensive back interactions, new short-yardage mechanics, defensive coverage improvements and additional pre-play strategic controls.

Superstar mode is also getting attention through the new Superstar G.O.A.T. Career Journey, while Ultimate Team players will have additional roster customization through Ultimate Team Captains.

For Nintendo fans, Madden NFL 27 also continues the arrival of major third-party franchises on Nintendo Switch 2, giving sports fans another substantial release for the system.

Oblivion Remastered Arrives on Switch 2

Football isn’t the only major release this week.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is also available now for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing Bethesda’s classic open-world RPG to Nintendo’s newest console.

Players return to Cyrodiil in a modernized version of the 2006 RPG, with the game’s environments, characters, weapons and other assets rebuilt with updated visuals and performance.

The package also includes previously released story expansions and additional content, including Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine.

That makes the Switch 2 release particularly appealing for players looking to revisit Oblivion as well as Nintendo owners experiencing the game for the first time.

Super Mario Sunshine Joins Nintendo Classics

Nintendo is also dipping into its GameCube library this week.

Super Mario Sunshine is now available through Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members playing on Nintendo Switch 2.

Originally released for the Nintendo GameCube, Super Mario Sunshine sends Mario, Princess Peach and the Toads to Isle Delfino for what is supposed to be a relaxing vacation.

Things quickly go wrong when Mario is blamed for the mysterious graffiti covering the island.

Armed with the water-powered F.L.U.D.D., Mario must clean up Isle Delfino, recover its missing Shine Sprites and discover who is actually responsible for the mess.

The game’s arrival adds another major first-party title to Nintendo’s growing GameCube Classics catalog on Switch 2.

Super Mario Sunshine Soundtrack Comes to Nintendo Music

Nintendo is doubling down on the Sunshine nostalgia this week.

The Super Mario Sunshine soundtrack has also been added to Nintendo Music, giving subscribers access to music from Mario’s tropical GameCube adventure.

The collection includes tracks associated with locations such as Pinna Beach, Hotel Delfino and Ricco Harbor.

It’s a fitting companion release for anyone planning another trip to Isle Delfino.

More Games Arrive on Nintendo Switch 2

Beyond the week’s biggest releases, Nintendo Switch 2 is receiving several additional games through the Nintendo eShop.

The original Nintendo Switch hasn’t been forgotten.

Nintendo’s Aug. 13 Download update also includes a sizable collection of new eShop releases for the system, including Choppa: Rescue Rivals, Forgotten Vault, Living Shadows, Lost to Time, Small Saga, Tower Dominion, Tyrant’s Realm and Vengeance of Mr. Peppermint, among others.

That continued support gives players on both generations of Nintendo hardware something new to check out.

A Strong Week for Nintendo Switch 2

The latest Nintendo Download offers an unusually varied lineup.

Sports fans can jump into Madden NFL 27, RPG players can lose themselves in Oblivion Remastered and longtime Nintendo fans have another excuse to revisit Isle Delfino with Super Mario Sunshine.

More importantly, the lineup demonstrates the increasingly broad selection available on Nintendo Switch 2.
