Caladrius 2: Dark Element Announced for PS5, Switch and PC
Caladrius 2: Dark Element Brings the Bullet-Hell Series Back This Winter
H2 Interactive and developer MOSS are bringing the Caladrius series back with a new 2D shoot-’em-up headed to PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
H2 Interactive has announced Caladrius 2: Dark Element, a new entry in MOSS’s vertical shoot-’em-up series.
The sequel is currently scheduled to launch this winter for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, giving fans of the series a new dose of fast-paced arcade shooting and dense projectile patterns.
Caladrius Returns With a New Entry
The original Caladrius established itself as a vertical shoot-’em-up built around distinctive characters, specialized ships, and its Element Shot weapon system.
Its expanded version, Caladrius Blaze, later made its way to PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game offered multiple playable characters and ships, branching character stories, local two-player cooperative play, and several additional modes.
Caladrius 2: Dark Element marks the next chapter for the franchise and appears set to retain the series’ combination of anime-inspired presentation and traditional bullet-hell gameplay.
A Series Known for Specialized Weapons
One of the defining mechanics of Caladrius Blaze was its Element Shot system, which gave players specialized offensive and defensive abilities in addition to their standard weapons.
That game also featured eight selectable characters and ships, more than 15 characters across its various storylines, and multiple modes designed to make the shooter approachable to newcomers while still offering challenges for experienced players.
Exactly how much Dark Element will expand on those systems has yet to be fully detailed, but the announcement confirms that MOSS is returning to the series rather than handing the sequel to a different developer.
H2 Interactive Returns as Publisher
H2 Interactive also has a long history with the franchise.
The company published Caladrius Blaze on Steam in January 2017, where the game currently holds a “Very Positive” overall user rating. H2 Interactive was also responsible for the western PlayStation 4 release.
That continuity should make Dark Element particularly interesting for players who followed the previous release.
Coming This Winter
A specific release date has not yet been announced.
For now, Caladrius 2: Dark Element is expected to arrive this winter on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam.
For fans of vertical shooters and bullet-hell games, the return of Caladrius gives the upcoming winter release calendar another arcade-focused title to keep an eye on.
