Ocarina of Time Remake Release Date Leaked for November 12

Nintendo still hasn’t announced an exact release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, but a growing collection of leaks and clues may have narrowed the launch down to November 12, 2026.

The remake was officially revealed during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, with Nintendo confirming that the Nintendo 64 classic will return exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 sometime this year. Nintendo’s official listing currently gives the game only a broad 2026 release window.

Now, however, November 12 is beginning to look increasingly significant.

Zelda Switch 2 Leak Points Toward November 12

The latest piece of the puzzle comes from leaked images reportedly showing a special The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 and matching Pro Controller.

According to reporting from VICE, the leaked hardware information points toward a November 12 release date for the special-edition system. That’s particularly interesting because November 12 had already surfaced in speculation surrounding the Ocarina of Time remake.

Nintendo has not officially announced the Zelda-themed Switch 2 hardware, so the images and associated release information should still be treated as unconfirmed.

However, launching a commemorative Zelda console alongside one of the franchise’s most famous games would certainly make sense.

Other Clues Are Pointing Toward November

The hardware leak isn’t the only reason November 12 has attracted attention.

Recent reporting has also pointed to Nintendo’s amiibo release schedule as another possible clue. New amiibo are reportedly scheduled for November 12, adding another Nintendo release to what could become an important date on the company’s holiday calendar.

None of these details individually confirm an Ocarina of Time launch date. Taken together, though, they make the November 12 theory considerably more interesting.

Nintendo has at least reaffirmed that the game remains scheduled for 2026, meaning the company is quickly running out of calendar if it intends to hit that window.

Nintendo Is Keeping Details Surprisingly Quiet

Perhaps the strangest part of the situation is how little Nintendo has revealed about the game since its announcement.

The company’s official description simply states:

“The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!”

Nintendo has yet to provide an exact release date on the game’s official store page, which continues to list its release simply as 2026.

Nintendo also hasn’t revealed many of the details players naturally want to know about this new version, including the full extent of its gameplay changes and other modernization efforts.

That makes another Zelda-focused presentation or major announcement increasingly likely before the end of the year, especially if the rumored November release proves accurate.

Why November 12 Makes Sense

A November launch would put Ocarina of Time directly into Nintendo’s crucial holiday lineup while also giving the company a major title to celebrate The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary.

The original The Legend of Zelda debuted in Japan in February 1986, making 2026 the franchise’s 40th anniversary year.

Few games would be better suited to headline that celebration than Ocarina of Time.

Originally released for Nintendo 64 in 1998, Ocarina of Time helped establish many of the conventions that would define 3D action-adventure games for years afterward. Nintendo later revisited the game with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for Nintendo 3DS in 2011.

The upcoming Switch 2 version represents another opportunity to introduce Link’s journey through Hyrule to a new generation.

November 12 Is Still a Rumor

As compelling as the evidence may appear, there’s an important distinction to make: Nintendo has not announced November 12 as the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Right now, the only official release information from Nintendo is 2026.

The November 12 date comes from leaks, circumstantial evidence and speculation surrounding Nintendo’s upcoming Zelda products. Even if the leaked Zelda Switch 2 hardware proves legitimate, Nintendo could release the console and game on different dates.

Still, with multiple clues beginning to converge on November, Zelda fans may not have much longer to wait for an answer.

If November 12 really is the date Nintendo has selected, an official announcement should be coming sooner rather than later.
