Last Pirates: Die Together Hits Steam Early Access August 18
Pirate life is about to get a little stranger. Last Pirates: Die Together, the chaotic cooperative horror game from RetroStyle Games, will officially launch into Steam Early Access on August 18, 2026.
Blending online co-op, horror, physics-based comedy, exploration, and plenty of treasure hunting, Last Pirates: Die Together sends crews into dangerous locations in search of valuable loot — with one particularly unusual tool at their disposal: ridiculously stretchy arms.
Grab Your Crew and Hunt for Treasure
Last Pirates: Die Together is built around online cooperative play for up to four players, with crews working together to collect valuable treasure for their captain while attempting to survive the creatures and other dangers standing between them and their haul.
Instead of simply picking up treasure the old-fashioned way, players can stretch their arms across the environment to grab loot and interact with objects. Combined with the game’s physics systems, that mechanic looks designed to create as many ridiculous moments between friends as it does useful strategies.
The result is a game that sits somewhere between cooperative horror and physics-driven comedy. One minute your crew might be cautiously exploring an ominous location, and the next everything can descend into complete chaos.
Early Access Brings More Monsters and Locations
Players who checked out the game’s demo should find considerably more waiting for them when Early Access begins.
RetroStyle Games says the Early Access version will include everything players experienced in the demo while expanding the game with additional monsters, locations, content, and polish. The developers describe the current build as a fully playable online co-op experience that will continue growing through regular updates.
The studio has also teased a brand-new map and new monsters for the Early Access launch.
That additional content comes after a substantial period of player testing. According to the developer, more than 100,000 players participated in the game’s demo and playtests, with feedback already influencing systems, content, balancing, and bug fixes.
Players Will Help Shape the Road to 1.0
Early Access isn’t simply being treated as an unfinished release. RetroStyle Games plans to use the period to continue refining the game alongside its community.
Player feedback will help the studio adjust areas including difficulty, enemy behavior, physics interactions, cooperative gameplay, replayability, and the overall gameplay loop. The team says it reviews feedback from Steam, Discord, videos, comments, and an in-game survey system.
The developers are currently targeting an Early Access period of at least six months, although there isn’t a firm deadline for version 1.0. RetroStyle Games says it would rather keep the game in development until it believes the full release is ready. The Ukraine-based development team has also asked players for patience as it continues working under challenging circumstances.
Bigger Plans for the Full Release
There is already a sizable list of features being considered for the eventual 1.0 release.
RetroStyle Games says its plans include more locations, additional enemies and bosses, character customization, expanded progression, new weapons, cursed loot, and further polish. The studio is also already working on what it describes as a major update.
Major updates released throughout Early Access are planned to be free. The developers haven’t made a final decision regarding the game’s eventual full-release price, although they say any price increase would be announced ahead of time.
A Different Kind of Pirate Adventure
Pirate games aren’t exactly rare, but Last Pirates: Die Together is taking the theme in a considerably stranger direction.
Rather than focusing on realistic sailing or traditional swashbuckling, RetroStyle Games is combining pirates with cooperative horror, unpredictable physics, monsters, treasure hunting, and elastic arms. It’s a combination that seems purpose-built for the kind of unscripted disasters that make co-op games memorable.
With more than 100,000 players already having participated in its demo and playtests, the game has had a sizable audience helping shape it before its Early Access debut.
Last Pirates: Die Together launches in Steam Early Access on August 18, 2026. The game is developed by RetroStyle Games and supports online co-op for crews of up to four players.
For players who prefer their pirate adventures with monsters, questionable teamwork, and arms capable of stretching across a room, this may be one voyage worth watching.
