Last Pirates: Die Together Sets Sail in Steam Early Access Today

Aug 18, 2026

Pirates, monsters, stretchy arms, and an unhealthy obsession with booty are coming together in Last Pirates: Die Together, which officially launches into Steam Early Access today, August 18, 2026.

Developed by RetroStyle Games and published by RetroStyle Games and Judatone Studios, Last Pirates: Die Together is an online co-op extraction horror-comedy built for crews of up to four players. Instead of taking the dark and deadly pirate life entirely seriously, the game combines survival horror with physics-driven chaos and plenty of opportunities for things to go spectacularly wrong.

The objective sounds simple enough: explore dangerous locations, grab as much valuable loot as possible, and make it back alive.

Actually accomplishing that is another matter.

Grab the Booty and Get Out Alive

Players take on the role of an unusual group of pirates sent into dangerous locations in search of treasure. The islands aren’t exactly welcoming, with monsters, traps, and other threats standing between the crew and a successful payday.

The game’s defining mechanic is the pirates’ elastic arms.

Players can stretch their arms across rooms to grab treasure and interact with objects from a distance. Those abilities aren’t limited to carefully collecting valuables, either. The physics-based environments allow players to pull apart doors, move furniture, manipulate objects, and generally cause the sort of chaos you’d expect when four pirates with ridiculously long arms are let loose.

That makes teamwork an important part of the experience. Players need to communicate, decide how far they’re willing to push into dangerous territory, and determine when they’ve collected enough treasure to make an escape.

Get greedy, and the entire crew could lose everything.

Horror That Doesn’t Take Itself Too Seriously

While Last Pirates: Die Together contains plenty of horror elements, RetroStyle Games isn’t trying to make a relentlessly terrifying experience.

Instead, horror provides the backdrop for unpredictable co-op comedy.

A carefully planned expedition can quickly turn into panic when monsters appear, teammates get separated, or the game’s physics decide that the crew’s brilliant strategy wasn’t quite as brilliant as everyone thought.

The result is a game seemingly designed around creating those unscripted multiplayer moments players end up talking about long after a session ends.

The concept appears to have already found an audience.

More Than 100,000 Players Tried the Demo

Ahead of the Early Access release, Last Pirates: Die Together built considerable momentum through its playable demo.

According to RetroStyle Games, more than 100,000 players participated in the game’s playtests and demo, with feedback from those players already influencing the game’s systems and content.

The demo also earned a Mostly Positive overall reception on Steam prior to launch and gave players an early look at the core extraction loop, physics-based interactions, monsters, and stretchy-arm mechanics.

The developers have made it clear that community feedback will remain an important part of development during Early Access.

Early Access Is Only the Beginning

RetroStyle Games currently expects Last Pirates: Die Together to remain in Early Access for at least six months, although the studio isn’t committing to a firm date for version 1.0.

Instead, the team says the game will leave Early Access when it believes the full release is ready.

During that period, the developers plan to use player feedback to refine difficulty, enemy behavior, physics interactions, co-op mechanics, progression, replayability, and the overall gameplay loop.

The planned full version is expected to expand considerably beyond what’s available at launch.

RetroStyle Games says its plans include additional locations, new enemies and bosses, character customization, deeper progression, more weapons, cursed loot, and further polish.

The studio also says it is already working on a major update.

A Promising Twist on Co-op Extraction Games

Co-op horror has become an increasingly crowded corner of PC gaming, which means new releases need something capable of immediately separating them from the pack.

Last Pirates: Die Together certainly has that.

Pirates with elastic arms stealing everything that isn’t nailed down — and probably some things that are — is an easy concept to understand. Combining that mechanic with extraction gameplay, physics-based interactions, monsters, and four-player co-op gives the game plenty of potential for unpredictable moments.

Whether that formula can keep players returning over the long term will depend heavily on how RetroStyle Games expands the experience throughout Early Access.

For now, crews looking for something that mixes treasure hunting, survival horror, physics-driven comedy, and multiplayer chaos have a new voyage to embark on.

Last Pirates: Die Together is available in Steam Early Access for PC beginning August 18, 2026.
