Razer Naga V3 Pro Launches With 23 Programmable Buttons

Razer has officially launched the Razer Naga V3 Pro, bringing a new generation of its long-running MMO gaming mouse to players with more programmable controls, upgraded hardware and a modular design built to handle far more than raids and dungeons.

The Naga line has been a fixture of PC gaming since 2009, becoming particularly recognizable for its 12-button thumb grid. With the Naga V3 Pro, Razer isn’t abandoning that formula. Instead, the company is expanding it into a mouse designed to move between MMOs, MOBAs, battle royale games, shooters and everyday PC use.

Three Mice in One

One of the Naga V3 Pro’s biggest features is its set of three interchangeable magnetic side plates.

Players can choose between a 12-button configuration designed for MMOs, a six-button layout better suited for MOBAs and battle royale games, or a traditional two-button configuration for FPS titles and everyday use.

The plates attach magnetically and can be swapped without tools, allowing players to essentially change the control layout of the mouse depending on what they’re playing.

Depending on the installed plate, the Naga V3 Pro provides up to 23 programmable buttons.

Razer has also added two quick-access buttons alongside the left mouse button, which can be used for functions such as changing DPI without moving your thumb away from the side controls.

Another interesting addition — or technically a return — is the ring-finger button. Razer previously removed the button from the Naga V2 Pro following concerns over accidental inputs. It’s back on the V3 Pro, but this time Razer has made it lockable, allowing players to disable it when they don’t need the additional input.

A New HyperScroll Tilt Wheel

Razer has upgraded the scroll wheel as well.

The HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2 gives users several scrolling options, including the standard 24-step tactile mode and a new 48-step Precision Tactile mode.

That extra precision could be particularly useful for cycling through abilities, weapons and inventory slots.

There’s also a Free-Spin mode for quickly moving through long menus and pages, while Razer’s Smart-Reel functionality can automatically switch between tactile and free-spinning behavior based on how quickly the wheel is being moved.

Those settings can be further customized through Razer Synapse.

Serious Hardware Under the Hood

The Naga V3 Pro isn’t just adding buttons.

Razer has equipped the mouse with its Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3, offering sensitivity of up to 50,000 DPI, tracking speeds of up to 930 IPS and acceleration of up to 90G.

The mouse also uses Razer’s Gen-4 Optical Mouse Switches, which are rated for more than 100 million clicks.

Razer says the new switches feature a 12% lighter actuation force compared with the previous generation, potentially making repeated inputs feel quicker during ability-heavy games.

The Naga V3 Pro also supports five onboard profiles, allowing players to save button layouts, macros and DPI configurations directly to the mouse.

Built for Wireless Gaming

Connectivity comes in three flavors: Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth and wired USB-C.

Battery life is rated at up to 155 hours using HyperSpeed Wireless or up to 280 hours over Bluetooth under Razer’s standard testing conditions.

Players can also continue using the mouse while it’s connected via USB-C.

For gamers interested in a cable-free charging setup, the Naga V3 Pro is compatible with Razer’s HyperFlux V2 Wireless Charging System and Mouse Dock Pro. Those accessories are sold separately.

The Naga Is Still an MMO Mouse — But Not Only an MMO Mouse

Perhaps the most interesting part of the Naga V3 Pro is Razer’s attempt to broaden what a Naga can be.

The massive 12-button thumb grid is still here for players who want an arsenal of abilities immediately accessible in games like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV or other input-heavy titles. But swapping to six or two buttons makes the mouse considerably more practical for players who don’t spend all of their gaming time inside an MMO.

That versatility could make the V3 Pro particularly appealing to players who would otherwise keep multiple mice on their desk.

At 117 grams before the cable and dongle, however, this isn’t attempting to compete with the ultralight mice dominating the competitive FPS market. The emphasis remains on ergonomics, customization and access to a huge number of commands.

Price and Availability

The Razer Naga V3 Pro is available now for $179.99 in the United States through Razer.

That puts it firmly in premium gaming-mouse territory, but Razer is packing considerable functionality into the package: three interchangeable control layouts, as many as 23 programmable buttons, tri-mode connectivity, extensive onboard customization and its latest-generation sensor and optical switches.

For dedicated MMO players, the Naga’s familiar 12-button grid remains the centerpiece. For everyone else, the V3 Pro’s modular design could be the feature that finally makes the Naga more than just an MMO mouse.

After 17 years, Razer isn’t reinventing the Naga so much as expanding what it can do — and the V3 Pro may be the most versatile version of the mouse yet.
