VOIDFACE Launches on Steam With Bullet Hell Boss Rush Chaos

Aug 18, 2026

Fans of punishing boss battles and screen-filling projectile chaos have a new challenge waiting for them. VOIDFACE, the bullet hell boss rush shooter from developer Frog Hat Labs and publisher Mad Mushroom, is officially available today on Steam.

Released on August 18, VOIDFACE combines two genres built around precision and perseverance: bullet hell shooters and boss rush games. Instead of filling stages with waves of disposable enemies, the game gets straight to the point — every enemy is a boss fight.

And players only have one life to make it through.

Bullet Hell Meets Boss Rush

VOIDFACE drops players into compact arenas filled with carefully designed projectile patterns that demand quick reactions and precise movement.

There are no traditional mobs standing between players and the next major encounter. Instead, the focus remains squarely on learning attack patterns, finding openings and surviving increasingly difficult battles.

Players can also dismantle bosses piece by piece, adding another tactical element beyond simply avoiding incoming fire and dealing damage.

The result is a game designed around repetition and mastery. Losing is expected. Learning why you lost is part of the experience.

Spells Add Another Layer to Combat

Dodging and shooting aren’t the only tools available.

VOIDFACE includes a spell system featuring offensive and defensive abilities that can dramatically change how encounters play out. Some spells are relatively easy to use, while others require more mastery before players can take full advantage of them.

That becomes particularly important when tackling the game’s more difficult challenges.

According to Mad Mushroom, VOIDFACE features 12 levels and bosses across Easy and Hard modes, with Hard mode designed to push experienced players even further.

Players who spent time with the game’s pre-release demo also have some good news: demo progress carries over into the full release.

A Game That Doesn’t Hide Its Difficulty

VOIDFACE isn’t pretending to be an easy ride.

Its Steam description warns players to expect plenty of deaths while learning the handcrafted attacks and bullet patterns thrown their way. Success comes from recognizing those patterns, improving movement and figuring out how to use the game’s spells effectively.

For players who enjoy games where finally defeating a difficult boss feels like an accomplishment, that difficulty could be one of VOIDFACE’s biggest attractions.

There are some lighter rewards waiting between all those deaths, too. Players can unlock additional hats and artwork as they progress.

VOIDFACE Is Available Now

VOIDFACE launched for PC via Steam on August 18, 2026. The game supports single-player gameplay along with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing.

At launch, Steam lists VOIDFACE for $8.99, with a 10% introductory discount bringing the price down to $8.09 through August 31.

A free demo also remains available for anyone who wants to test their bullet-dodging skills before jumping into the full game.

For players who live for intimidating bosses, elaborate projectile patterns and the satisfaction that comes from finally overcoming a seemingly impossible encounter, VOIDFACE looks ready to put those reflexes to the test.
