Xbox Goes All-In at Gamescom 2026 With 25 Games

Aug 26, 2026

Xbox has arrived at Gamescom 2026 in a big way.

As Microsoft celebrates 25 years of Xbox, the company has turned its Gamescom presence into a showcase of where the platform is heading next. The Xbox booth in Cologne features 25 upcoming games spread across 140 gaming stations, giving attendees the opportunity to get hands-on with some of Microsoft’s biggest upcoming releases.

And the lineup isn’t short on heavy hitters.

Xbox Brings Some of Its Biggest Upcoming Games

Among the games appearing at the Xbox booth are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Fable, Minecraft Dungeons II, Gears of War: E-Day, METRO 2039, STRANGER THAN HEAVEN and Alien: Isolation 2.

Rather than simply filling its booth with trailers and presentations, Xbox is putting an emphasis on playable experiences.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is one of the centerpieces, with attendees able to play the game’s Core 6v6 multiplayer on Xbox Series X. It’s another chance for players to experience the latest Modern Warfare multiplayer ahead of release.

But it may be Gears of War: E-Day that attracts the most attention.

Gamescom 2026 marks the first public opportunity to play the E-Day campaign, giving players an early taste of the Locust War’s beginnings and the relationship between Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. The game is currently scheduled to launch on October 6, 2026.

Fable Gets Its Chance to Shine

The long-awaited Fable is another major part of Microsoft’s Gamescom push.

The event is giving Xbox an opportunity to put more gameplay in front of players as anticipation continues to build for Playground Games’ return to Albion. Gamescom has also published an extended gameplay demonstration highlighting the game’s world and systems, with Fable currently scheduled for February 23, 2027.

For a game that has spent years generating questions about what a modern Fable should look like, Gamescom represents an important opportunity for Microsoft to show rather than simply tell.

Minecraft Dungeons II Joins the Lineup

Another notable part of the Xbox presence is Minecraft Dungeons II.

The sequel is scheduled for September 29, 2026, and continues the action-focused dungeon-crawling side of the Minecraft universe.

Its presence alongside franchises such as Call of Duty, Gears and Fable also illustrates just how broad Microsoft’s current gaming portfolio has become.

Xbox isn’t relying on one blockbuster to carry its Gamescom appearance. It’s bringing shooters, RPGs, horror games, family-friendly titles and third-party releases together under one enormous umbrella.

Celebrating 25 Years of Xbox

There is another reason Microsoft is making such a big deal out of Gamescom this year: Xbox is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Microsoft says its Gamescom experience includes interactive exhibits looking back at memorable games, innovations and moments from every generation of Xbox. The company is also bringing back Xbox FanFest, extending the anniversary celebration beyond the show floor.

For fans unable to attend Gamescom in Germany, Xbox is also streaming coverage featuring developer interviews, guests, gameplay reveals and new trailers.

Xbox Has Something to Prove

The sheer scale of Xbox’s Gamescom 2026 presence feels significant.

Microsoft has spent the last several years reshaping what “Xbox” actually means. The brand now stretches far beyond a traditional console business, encompassing Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Game Pass, cloud gaming and an increasingly platform-agnostic publishing strategy.

Gamescom gives Microsoft an opportunity to bring the focus back to the simplest part of that equation: the games.

With 25 upcoming titles and 140 stations dedicated to letting people actually play them, Xbox isn’t arriving in Cologne with a small collection of promises about what might happen years from now.

It’s showing players what comes next.

And with Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Minecraft Dungeons II, METRO 2039 and Alien: Isolation 2 among the games carrying that message, Xbox has made itself one of the biggest attractions at Gamescom 2026.
